Who is Tegan Hollows?

Tegan is a degree-qualified naturopath and medical herbalist (BNatMed, awarded with distinction) and the founder of Naturalist Advanced Women's Health in Wānaka. She is registered with NMHNZ and brings over a decade of clinical and personal experience with hormonal health conditions to her work.

Who does Naturalist help?

Naturalist is for women with endometriosis and PCOS (also called PMOS) who want to understand what is driving their symptoms. Tegan also supports women with PMS and PMDD, hormonal acne, fibroids and gut-hormone health.

Do you work with women outside Wānaka?

You can be anywhere in New Zealand. Everything runs online through Practice Better, and in-person appointments are available at 11 Kereru Crescent, Wānaka. Clinic hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 10am to 5pm.

What does "test, don't guess" mean?

It means every plan starts with your own data, not a standard protocol. Standard reference ranges are designed to spot disease, while optimal ranges look at how well your body is functioning. Tegan reads your results against both, alongside your history and how you actually feel.

What is a Discovery call?

A Discovery call is a free 15-minute chat to talk through your situation and see whether working together feels like a good fit.

What is a Clarity Call?

A Clarity Call is a free 40-minute conversation for women thinking about a Thrive program. You fill in a short enquiry form first, then book a time that suits you. By the end, you will know whether Thrive is right for you and which pathway fits. If it isn't the right fit, Tegan will tell you and point you toward something that is.

What is Thrive?

Thrive with Endometriosis and Thrive with PCOS are four-month clinical programs. Each one includes functional testing, a 90-minute strategy session with a written report, monthly consultations, and daily practitioner support between sessions during business hours. They are built on the Empowered Body Method, which moves through four pillars in order: Personalise, Reduce, Restore and Rebuild.

What happens during the four months?

Weeks 1 to 4: You complete your intake and symptom mapping, and your testing is collected. You start simple foundation strategies while your results are processed. Strategy session: Once your results are back, you and Tegan spend 90 minutes going through what each marker means for you. You leave with a written report and a personalised roadmap. Months 2 to 4: This is active treatment with monthly reviews. Your plan is adjusted each time based on how your body has responded. Long term: You finish with a review of what has changed, what is still in progress, and what keeps things steady.

How much does Thrive cost?

Thrive with Endometriosis and Thrive with PCOS are each $4,497 incl. GST. A payment plan is available, with a $2,899 deposit followed by three monthly instalments of $533.

Can I start with something smaller?

You can begin with the first two months for $2,899 incl. GST. If you decide to continue within 60 days, it is fully credited toward the full program, so you are paying in two parts, not twice.

What is the difference between the first two months and the full program?

Both include the full testing panel, a 90-minute strategy consultation with a written report, support between sessions, access to the hub, a meal planning platform and a 15% supplement discount. The first two months give you a personalised plan for one to two months and two 60-minute reviews. The full program adds a Pre-Thrive Health Plan, so support begins before your results arrive. It also includes five monthly consultations, goal setting and habit coaching, a four-month roadmap, and a long-term maintenance strategy.

Are supplements included in the price?

Supplements are purchased separately, because every plan is personalised. Most women spend $150 to $300 a month during active treatment, and program clients receive a 15% supplement discount.

Do I need a diagnosis to join?

Not at all. Many women join with suspected endometriosis or PCOS and symptoms that haven't been formally diagnosed.

Can I join if I'm on hormonal birth control?

Often you can. It depends on the type, as some forms change your natural hormone signals, which can affect how testing is done and interpreted. Let Tegan know what you're taking and the two of you can talk through your options.

What if I've had surgery or I'm planning it?

Your surgery history is part of the picture Tegan considers when building your plan. If surgery is coming up, mention it on your Clarity Call so you can talk through timing.

Does Thrive replace medication or specialist care?

Naturopathic care is not a substitute for medical treatment. Please talk to your doctor before changing or stopping any medication.

Can a naturopath cure endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a chronic condition, so Tegan doesn't promise a cure. What she does is help you understand what is driving your symptoms and support the systems involved.

What is the EndoMAP?

The EndoMAP is NutriPATH's at-home dried urine test, collected across a single day. It shows how your body makes and clears hormones, not only how much is circulating. It covers oestrogen and its clearance routes, progesterone, androgens, cortisol rhythm, melatonin, organic acids, endocrine disruptors and heavy metals.

What testing is included in Thrive?

Thrive includes the EndoMAP plus blood panels for hormones (timed to your cycle), thyroid, iron, B12, vitamin D and fasting insulin. Tegan orders everything for you, with blood work through i-Screen and the EndoMAP through NutriPATH.

How much does testing cost?

EndoMAP: $590 Hormone panel: $238.50 Thyroid panel: $144.40 Iron panel: $121.50 B12: $141.30 Vitamin D: $127.80 Fasting insulin: $124.20 All pathology is passed on at cost with no mark-up, and testing is included in both Thrive pathways.

What if my GP has already ordered some of these tests?

If your GP has ordered any of the exact markers in the panel, the cost of those tests comes straight off your program investment.

How long do results take?

Results usually take 5 to 10 working days from when your sample arrives at the lab. You won't be waiting idle, as you start your foundation strategies while the results come through.

Can I get my existing test results interpreted?

Yes, once you have had an initial consultation. Functional testing interpretation (EndoMAP, DUTCH or Complete Microbiome Map) is $209 incl. GST. Pathology interpretation for GP or i-Screen blood work is $109 incl. GST.

What happens in an Initial Consultation?

It is a 90-minute session covering your health history, symptoms, nutrition and habits. Tegan reviews your intake form before you meet, and your personalised health plan is ready within three working days. It costs $249 incl. GST.

What is a Reset package?

A Reset is a focused investigation into one concern: the Endo Reset, the PCOS Reset or the Gut Reset. Each is $1,297 incl. GST and includes an intake form, a 60-minute initial consultation, a 60-minute strategy session, the relevant test and a written interpretation report.

Why is PCOS now called PMOS?

In May 2026, a global consensus process published in The Lancet renamed polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) to polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS). The old name described one possible feature, how the ovaries look on a scan. Research shows the condition is not primarily ovarian. It involves several hormone systems, including insulin, the adrenal glands, thyroid and androgens. The process took 14 years and involved more than 50 patient and professional organisations. You will see both names used for a while, so Naturalist uses PCOS (also called PMOS) to keep things easy to find. The diagnostic criteria have not changed with the rename, based on what has been published so far.

How is PCOS diagnosed?

Most clinicians use the Rotterdam criteria, which need two of three features: irregular or absent ovulation, signs of higher androgens, and polycystic ovarian morphology on ultrasound. That means some women are diagnosed without polycystic-looking ovaries at all.

Are there different types of PCOS?

Presentations tend to cluster into recognisable types with different drivers: insulin-driven, adrenal, inflammatory, post-pill and lean. Working out your type through testing is the first step in a Thrive with PCOS plan.

Can I claim naturopathy on my health insurance?

Southern Cross Health Insurance recognises all NMHNZ registered practitioners. If your plan includes naturopathy cover, such as a Body Care Module on a Southern Cross Wellbeing Plan, you may be able to claim. Your provider can confirm what your plan covers.
