THE PCOS RESET

Hormone testing for PCOS that connects your symptoms to the root cause

You’ve been told you have PCOS but, not why you have it or how to manage it.

For women with diagnosed or suspected PCOS whose cycles, skin, hair and energy still don’t make sense. The PCOS Reset looks at how your body is making, using and clearing your hormones, then builds a plan around what your results show.

Naturopath & Medical Herbalist who has lived with PCOS. NMHNZ registered.

Advanced women's health without the guesswork.

DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR

You’ve worked so hard on your PCOS.
And it still feels like your body is working against you.

Your cycle shows up late, or not at all. Breakouts sit along your jaw and chin. Hair grows where you don’t want it and thins where you do. You’re tired in a way sleep doesn’t fix. You eat carefully, and your body doesn’t seem to notice. The advice has been the same every time. Lose weight. Go on the pill. Try inositol. You’ve done some version of all of it, and you still don’t know which parts were ever meant for you.

PCOS is frustrating when no one looks past the surface. This is where someone finally looks deeper. I’ve lived with PCOS, and I know what it takes to manage it well: specific support, guided by testing that looks at the root causes.

PCOS is not one condition.
Same diagnosis, different root causes.

Two women with PCOS can have completely different things going on. Most fit one of four broad types, and many have features of more than one.

We work out your type from your history, your symptoms, your bloods and your EndoMAP results together.

But your type is only part of the picture. The bigger piece is how your body is handling its hormones day to day, because that shapes so much of how you feel. That’s what the EndoMAP shows.

Insulin-resistant PCOS

The most common type, around 70% of cases. High insulin pushes androgens up, lowers SHBG and disrupts ovulation. It’s not just a diet problem, which is why standard dietary advice alone often isn’t enough.

Post-pill and inflammatory PCOS

Symptoms that appear after stopping the pill, either because PCOS was already there underneath or because your hormones are re-establishing their own rhythm. The pill also depletes nutrients your hormones rely on. Inflammation can drive androgens even at a normal weight.

Adrenal PCOS

Around 20 to 30% of cases. Here the adrenal glands, not the ovaries, are driving the extra androgens. Insulin, LH and glucose can all look completely normal. Hair thinning at the temples, stress-triggered cycle changes, anxiety and fatigue are common.

Lean PCOS

The most often missed. Driven by inflammation, gut imbalance and often thyroid function, and frequently dismissed because you’re not overweight. Fatigue, brain fog, bloating and a flare the day after certain foods are common clues.

What testing is there for PCOS?

Bloods tell you what you have. The EndoMAP shows what your body is doing with it.

PCOS is usually diagnosed through symptoms, blood tests and sometimes an ultrasound. Blood tests measure hormones like testosterone, LH and FSH, along with glucose and insulin. They matter, and for insulin they’re essential.

What bloods can’t show is how your body is handling those hormones. They give one number, at one moment. Two women can have the same testosterone result and very different symptoms, because their bodies are sending it down different pathways.

The PCOS Reset isn’t a test to diagnose PCOS. It’s for women who already have the diagnosis, or a strong suspicion, and want to see what’s happening underneath.

THE ENDO MAP

What the PCOS Reset looks at

The EndoMAP is a dried urine test you do at home. You collect four small samples across one day, which lets us see how your hormones rise, fall and clear over a full day rather than at a single moment.

It covers nine areas. Together they show what your body is doing with your hormones, and which parts of your plan will make the biggest difference first.

Hormone metabolism testing for PCOS

How your body processes hormones

One of the biggest pieces in PCOS, and almost never tested. Your body is constantly breaking hormones down, converting them and clearing them. When that isn’t working well, hormones build up or get pushed down less helpful pathways, and you feel it long before it shows anywhere else.

Androgen testing for PCOS, ovarian and adrenal

Androgens

Testosterone, DHEA, and what they break down into. This shows whether your androgens lean towards the pathway behind acne, unwanted hair growth and hair thinning, and whether they’re coming more from your ovaries or your adrenal glands.

Cortisol and adrenal testing for PCOS

Your daily cortisol pattern

Your stress hormones measured at four points across the day. This shows whether your adrenal glands are part of your PCOS picture, and picks up patterns a single blood test misses, like feeling wired at night and flat in the morning.

How your hormones work together

Oestrogen, progesterone and androgens don’t act alone. Your results show how they’re balancing against each other. They can show whether you’re likely ovulating, why your progesterone may be running low, and whether your oestrogen is balanced or pushing too far ahead. When one hormone is out, it pulls the others with it, so seeing them together tells us where to start.

Oxidative stress and nutrients

Markers of oxidative stress and inflammation, plus whether your body has the nutrients it needs to do all this hormone work, including B6, folate and glutathione. Especially relevant for inflammatory and post-pill PCOS.

Melatonin across the day

Melatonin is not only a sleep hormone. It is one of the strongest antioxidants and anti-inflammatories your body makes, and it plays a direct role in hormone-sensitive conditions including PCOS. Low or disrupted melatonin patterns are common and almost never tested.

Oestrogen and progesterone balance in PCOS

Endocrine disruptor exposure

The everyday chemicals that interfere with your hormones from the outside. Things like BPA (found in plastics, receipts, food packaging), PFAS and PFOA (in non-stick coatings, waterproofing, and cosmetics), and heavy metals including lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic, and aluminium. This shows your exposure load, so we know whether reducing it belongs in your plan. For PCOS specifically, this exposure load matters.

Nutrient and oxidative stress markers for PCOS

Gut markers relevant to hormones

Your gut plays a direct role in how hormones are cleared from your body. These markers show whether your gut is adding to your hormone load and it shows us what we need to do about it.

One plan that reaches all of your symptoms, not just one

When your plan is built around what’s actually happening in your body, it doesn’t just target your skin, or your cycle, or your energy on its own. It works on what’s connecting them. That’s why the changes tend to show up in more than one place.

What women work towards

  • More regular cycles and ovulation

  • Clearer skin

  • Less unwanted hair growth

  • Less hair thinning

  • Steadier energy through the day

  • Calmer mood and better sleep

  • A metabolism that responds again

  • If pregnancy is part of your plans, we factor that in from the start.

I’m Tegan, a naturopath and medical herbalist helping women across New Zealand. I’ve lived with PCOS, alongside endometriosis, ovarian cysts and hormonal acne. I know what it’s like to have tests come back normal while your body is clearly telling you otherwise.

That’s why I became a naturopath. I wanted to understand the why, not just manage the what. Over a decade of clinical and personal experience later, testing is still the thing that changes the most for the women I work with.

The PCOS Reset is the investigation I wish I’d had. Not another protocol to try, but a clear look at what your body is doing, and a plan built from that.

Results usually take 10 to 15 working days once the lab receives your sample. We then meet for 60 minutes to go through everything, including your personalised health plan.

You’ve tried everything else.

Now let's see what your body is actually doing.

The PCOS Reset shows what your body is doing underneath it, and gives you a plan built from your own results, so the work you put in finally has somewhere to go.

Frequently asked questions

  • No, the PCOS Reset can't diagnose PCOS. PCOS is diagnosed through symptoms, blood tests and sometimes an ultrasound. The Reset is for women who already have the diagnosis, or strongly suspect it, and want to see what’s happening underneath so their plan fits their body.

  • Not at all, many women come to me with a strong suspicion and no scan or bloods on file. We talk it through in your initial consultation, and your results show what your hormones are doing either way.

  • Yes. A GP can order blood tests and an ultrasound and diagnose PCOS. The Reset looks at a different layer: how your body is making, using and clearing your hormones, which helps explain why your symptoms look and feel the way they do.

  • Not on its own. Your type comes from your history, symptoms, bloods and EndoMAP results together. The EndoMAP is a big part of that picture, especially for adrenal, androgen and inflammatory patterns, but insulin is assessed through blood work and symptoms.

  • Insulin isn’t on the EndoMAP. If you have recent bloods, I review them as part of your Reset package. If you don’t, I’ll tell you exactly which panel to get and we will review them together.

  • It varies from woman to woman, which is why we test. The pill in particular depletes nutrients your hormones rely on, including B vitamins, zinc, magnesium and selenium. The EndoMAP also shows whether your body is using key nutrients like B6, folate and glutathione well.

  • Yes. In May 2026 PCOS was renamed Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS), after a global consensus process published in The Lancet. The new name reflects that it involves several hormone systems, not just the ovaries. You’ll see me use both names.

  • Yes, and you do not need to stop anything. The EndoMAP is designed to be run while you are on hormonal medication, and your prescription is factored into how I read and interpret your results. This is a common question and it is genuinely not a barrier.

  • I’ll give you a collection plan in your initial consultation, based on what your cycle is doing.

  • It moves at the pace of your cycle. Your test window is set by where you are when you start, and the lab takes 10 to 15 working days to return your results. From there we book your strategy session as soon as they are in. I will guide you through each step so nothing is left to guess.
